Pink scores 4/5

Just the other day I was moaning to a friend of mine about how so many pop performers these days have got lazy.

Either they lip-synch and gyrate like a teenage cheerleader on speed, or they stand so still that you start wondering why you forked out the money for the tickets/DVD.

Thank goodness, then, for Pink.

The Pink 'Funhouse' tour, which was filmed over two nights in Australia, is a phenomenal combination of stunning set-design, really snappy choreography and Pink's own special blend of pumped-up pop-rock and gut-wrenching lyrics.

The show's concept is fantastic ? a carnival funhouse, which is part Moulin Rouge and part circus performance. From the moment that Pink makes her entrance in a ring master outfit with a huge tail and towering heels to the final, heart-stopping performance of 'Glitter in the Air' ? she keeps her energy up and her audience in a complete frenzy.

Pink (or P!nk, if you will) has come a mercifully long way since her debut R&B record. She has matured as an artist and a singer-songwriter who has found her niche and garnered a massive following.

On this DVD, you can expect some of her biggest hits from both her old albums and the new ones ? Pink classics like 'Just Like a Pill', 'Trouble', 'Family Portrait' and 'Don't Let Me Get Me' all make an appearance alongside the chart-dominating songs like 'Funhouse', 'So What' and 'Who Knew'.

Her performance is extremely varied ? she belts out 'Family Portrait' alongside her pianist with a performance that wrenched my heart as strongly as the first day I heard the song. She moves from wild sprints across the stage to an intimate "camp-fire" style. She swaps cleverly choreographed pop songs with a gritty rock style. And just when you think she's got to be winding down, the final six songs are huge, in-your-face and high-energy.

She also performs a kinky, burlesque-styled cover of the Divinyl's 'I Touch Myself' (it is really kinky ? you'll have to see it to understand), and puts her own spin on the smash Gnarls Barkley hit 'Crazy'. She also pulls out some classic rock ? including a Led Zeppelin cover and a powerful version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, where she even dons a cropped version of his signature yellow jacket.

And she has the voice for it all, as well. Throughout the entire performance her voice never seems tired, never seems like it's going to crack and she almost never sounds out of breath ? and yet she runs across the stage, climbs over the props and literally does mid-air somersaults like a pixie on Red Bull.

Another huge highlight ? and it is here that I bow down before the greatness that is Pink ? are the aerial stunts she performs. Her heart-stopping trapeze routine from 'Sober' and the safety-wire free aerial silk performance for 'Glitter in the Air' (which she later performed at the Grammy Awards) are testament not only to her love of performance and her athleticism, but also her constant desire to push the boundaries.

Even if you're not the hugest Pink fan ? give this DVD a chance anyway, purely for the performance. You're not going to see anything better for a while.
