For something different, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels are performing at the Blues Room at the Village Walk Centre. These guys provide an upbeat and lively performance which should not be missed. Dr Victor is a favourite at the Blues Room and he and his band make their return on Friday night at 7.30. Cover charge R80.

Voodoo Child and Sama-award winner Josie Field will be performing at Tanz Cafe on Friday night. Prepare yourself for some incredible original tracks, and a couple covers. Both Voodoo Child and Josie Field will have merchandise on sale. Cover charge is R60. Call 011 463 5937.

Nianell will be performing live at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday night. This two-time Sama award winning artist will perform a range of styles ranging from adult contemporary pop to ballads to country to blues. The show start at 8.30pm and tickets are R90 or R105. Book through Computicket.

Fokofpolisiekar ? who over the years have become one of the leading acts on the South African rock scene ? will perform live at Barrels in Alberton from 10pm on Saturday night. While R150 may seem quite steep ? come prepared to have your socks rocked off!

Theuns Jordaan will be live at the Silverstar Centre on Saturday night from 8pm. One of the biggest Afrikaans musicians in South Africa, he's sure to put on a show. Tickets are R130 and can be booked from Computicket.

Stage and Comedy

Have your funnybone tickled at the Tshwane Comedy Festival, which opens on July 23rd and runs through to August 1st at the Rendezvous Theatre. Catch South African comedy heavyweights John Vlismas and Riaad Moosa among others during the run. Shows are at 8pm daily - except Sundays - and tickets are R70.

A Handful of Keys is a multi-award winning show that just keeps on packing in the audiences! This hysterical two-man piano show stars Jonathan Roxmoth and Roelof Colyn and runs until August 1st at Montecasino. This weekend, catch them on Friday night at 7.30. Tickets are from R100 - R200. You don't want to miss this show, now in its 15th sell-out year.
