Versatile actress Lucy Liu has agreed to star in the English-language drama 'Nomads', which is Mexican-produced.

The film was written by Mexican filmmaker Ricardo Benet, who will also serve as director.

According to Variety, "the story centers on a documentary filmmaker (Liu) who is making a picture about subway suicides".

Actors John Cothran Jr. and Tamlyn Tomita have also joined the cast, with native Mexican Tenoch Huerta and Dagoberto Gama completing the line-up.

Filming recently began and will primarily be based in New York and Mexico City. The film carries some high hopes, as Benet's first feature, 'News From Afar', won prizes at the Biarritz and Mar del Plata festivals.

Liu is best known for her work in the films 'Charlie's Angels', 'Kill Bill' and TV series 'Ally McBeal'.
