The-Dream scores 3/5

He?s written and worked on some of the most anthemic pop songs of the past few years (including Rihanna?s 'Umbrella', Mariah Carey?s 'Touch My Body' and Beyonce's massive hit 'Single Ladies') ? but, as with many gifted writer-producers, The-Dream's magic doesn?t always translate as easily onto his own albums.

'Love vs Money' is Terius ?The-Dream? Nash?s second album, following 2007?s underwhelming Love Hate, and he?s clearly cashing in on his pop maestro credentials, with guest stars including Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Lil Jon, Ludacris and Fabolous popping up in guest appearances.

The-Dream actually has a rather pleasant singing voice (better than many of today?s more popular male singers), and his lyrics are clever and playful, with solid production creating a mostly enjoyable mix of R&B and pop.

Highlights include the amusing 'Sweat it Out', on which Dream instructs his girl to "Call Laetitia, your beautician, 'cause your hair's gonna need fixin'?", and 'My Love', a sexy duet with Mariah Carey that features impressive vocal sparring from both.

The songs are mostly not as immediately catchy as his work for other artists, but give this album a third and fourth listen, and you?ll find many of the tunes running around your head. Worth it for fans of good R&B-pop.
