R Kelly has told Eyewitness News boarding a plane to come to South Africa was a challenge he had to overcome.
The R&B singer, known for his fear of flying, is set to perform in the country for the first time on Saturday and next weekend.
Amid tight security, R Kelly gave a sneak preview of what fans can expect at his shows.
With an iPhone strapped to his arm and the words strength and power tattooed on them he spoke of how he had to overcome his fear of flying to get to South Africa.
"It's all about growing and going through things and getting stronger. You say I am not afraid anymore and you get on the plane," says Kelly.
R Kelly performs at the end of Arise Africa Fashion week on Saturday night and next weekend at Sun City and in Cape Town.
