Jose Cuervo and 5FM have joined forces to promote local music.

Catherine's (Live)5 show every Saturday afternoon between 5pm and 7pm, and Rob Vember's South African Band Invasion on the first Thursday of every month are bringing band interviews and the best live South African music to listeners across the country ? a free ticket to the world's best bands and DJs live in concert.

The Parlotones, South Africa's own super group, gained massive national exposure in their early stages on 5FM, have since seen excellent growth on the 5FM play list, and are now embarking on their first ever world tour.

Prime Circle, aKing, Cassette, and Jozi are to name but a few of the other power bands that have already charged South African airwaves nationwide on Catherine's Saturday afternoon (Live)5 show.

"I love the fact that we can help South African musicians get into the lives of music fans through the (Live)5 show. There is such great talent out there and that makes my job easy," says 5FM's Catherine Grenfell.

Odelle Joubert, Jose Cuervo Brand Manager adds: "The South African public can look forward to rocking live performances on 5FM in the near future by The Sick Leaves, Lindsay Mcguire, Blk Jks, and Ashtray Electric, followed by an hour of live music by SA's top DJs. What better way to kick off a Saturday night on the right note! Whether its rock bands or DJ's, it's about the music and the moment."

As part of the Jose Cuervo 5FM partnership, listeners also have the opportunity to access band interview podcasts, images and videos published on 5fm.co.za. Band and listener interaction is facilitated through the 5fm online interactive blogs, where listeners can SMS and Tweet their comments to the 5FM Media Player and (Live)5 pages.

Similarly, listeners are invited to ask questions, send comments and watch the South African Band Invasion interviews live in studio via webcam during The Rob Vember show, on the first Thursday of every month.

To celebrate this initiative and support local music talent Jose Cuervo and 5FM hosted a launch event on Catherine's (Live)5 show, showcasing the Parlotones and DJ Stuart Hillary on Saturday 26 September
