Muse and The Horrors want to record the anthem for the 2012 London Olympics.

Horrors rocker Rhys Webb has revealed he and his bandmate Tom Cowen have written a track for the prestigious sporting event and have given it to London mayor Boris Johnson for consideration.

Tom told BBC 6 Music: "It's an electronic piece and it's very evocative of the human frame and very athletic, but also graceful. It would be a lot better than whatever they choose, that's for sure."

Muse drummer Dominic Howard has also admitted his band are keen to write a track for the event which the UK capital will host from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

He said: "Since it's in London, sure. We've got a new song, so maybe we could use that."

Former New Order star Bernard Sumner — who wrote England's 1990 World Cup song 'World In Motion' — has also expressed an interest in writing the official anthem.
