Local "zef-rap" act Die Antwoord performed their first show in the United States last night.

Die Antwoord's frontman, Ninja, jumped up on stage at Hollywood nightspot Cinespace to deliver what was apparently an impromptu freestyle set.

Ninja and his bandmate Yo-Landi Vi$$er are currently on a "secret mission to the overseas" according to their website, ahead of their "P*** Groot world tour".

In a matter of weeks, Die Antwoord have gone from being virtual unknowns on the local music scene to international celebrities, with a Facebook following of close to 50,000 fans and millions of hits on YouTube.

Rumour has it that various record labels are engaged in a massive bidding war over who will land the viral act.
