Britney Spears is set to appear in court on 15 October for a motoring charge.

However, The 'Toxic' singer's lawyer, Michael Flanagan, wants to sort out the matter before it reaches the trail stage.

The 26-year-old was found using a driver's licence only valid in the state of Louisiana while escaping from paparazzi in Los Angeles.

Spears has acquired the correct licence since the incident took place and Flanagan thinks that she is only being put on trial because she is a celebrity.

Flanagan told The Daily Star Sunday: "She's come a long way. She's a solid citizen. Let's treat her as normal.
