Reese Witherspoon paid for a woman's groceries after she forgot her wallet.

The 33-year-old Hollywood star — who has two children with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe — took pity on a stressed mother at a Whole Foods store in Los Angeles by helping her out with her food bill.

A source said: "Reese knows that kids make you lose your mind. When she spotted a harried mom who had forgotten her wallet she picked up the tab.

"The woman was so flustered and embarrassed. But Reese said she would gladly take care of the $70 bill and no apology was necessary.

"She told the mom: 'I understand, I have kids too!'"

Reese — who has a nine-year-old daughter Ava and son Deacon (5) — is currently dating actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
