Oprah says she relates to the lead character of the movie 'Precious' which is currently showing at the Toronto film festival.
The film stars Gabourey Sidibe as an overweight, illiterate and abused teenager who tries to improve her life, reports AFP.
The talk show host, who's also the co-executive producer of the film, said: "I recognised myself in that character and most of all, I recognised that I have seen the Precious girls of the world and they have been invisible to me."
"None of us who see the movie can walk through the world and allow the Preciouses to be invisible again," she said.
'Precious', which is set in 1987 Harlem, also stars Mariah Carey as social worker.
Winfrey, who's often spoken out about her rough childhood, plans to promote the film on her show and magazine before its scheduled American release date.
