A total 11 000 tickets for two surprise concerts by US rock star Prince this weekend sold out in just 77 minutes, producers said Friday.
Tickets ? 5500 for each of the Sunday afternoon and evening shows ? went on sale at ?149 (R1741) for a seat and ?99 (R1157) standing. But offers on the Internet had soared above ?500 (R5845) several hours later.
Prince decided to give the concerts at the glass-and-iron Grand Palais exhibition hall after visiting the landmark Paris building on the banks of the Seine.
He attended Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel catwalk show there on Tuesday and "liked the venue".
Withing 48 hours he announced he would hold two "All Day/All Night" concerts at 5pm (1500 GMT) and 10pm (2000 GMT).
