As we wait on tenterhooks for a glimpse of the new Lotus Evora in the flesh ? there's a few already on the roads in South Africa ? the carmaker is tempting us with visions of a carbon design concept that will take the stage at the Geneva Motorshow.

The Evora Carbon makes good use of carbon fibre on its diffuser and high-tech composite body.

Exposed carbon fibre and bright, white pearlesent paint provide a brilliant contrast to create head-turning looks. This Evora is poised and aggressive and handles as well as (or perhaps better than) the production version with its aluminium bonded and extruded chassis.

Carbon outside and in

The cabin is modern and uses bare carbon panels and leather, while swathes of grey alcantara cover the footwell, dashboard and roof.

Lotus has a set of diamond-cut, 19-inch alloys for the car, with 235/35 tyres at the front 285/30 at the rear, to fill the wheel arches and give the car a beefier presence.

There's no mention of what lies under the bonnet, but it's likely to be the same 3.5-litre V6 that powers the Evora. Pumping out 206kW, it pushes the car from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 261 km/h.
