Red Bull's Mark Webber does not care where he finishes at the remaining races of the F1 season - so long as it ahead of the Brawn drivers.
Webber is the in-form driver heading into this weekend's race in Valencia, his haul of 42 points from the past six races the best in the field despite claiming just one win in that sequence.Consistent points-scoring is the name of the game for Webber, and the Australian has made significant inroads into Jenson Button's title lead at the past three rounds as the Briton has struggled to match the form that brought him six wins out of the first seven races.
Now trailing Button by 18.5 points, Webber has also moved ahead of his team-mate Sebastian Vettel in the drivers' standings, with the Red Bull pair enjoying the freedom to battle each other for the title.
Webber raced to a hard-earned third place in Hungary last time out, finishing behind the resurgent McLaren of race-winner Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, while Button limped to his worst finish of the season with seventh place.
And more of the same, staring this weekend in Spain, would be the dream ticket for Webber.
"We're coming here to continue our run of good results," said Webber.
"Budapest was a track which, like here, is one which we thought would be a little bit more challenging for us than maybe Silverstone or Spa, but we were very happy that we performed quite well and we beat our main rivals.
"With three street tracks remaining at the last seven races, the KERS cars - McLaren and Ferrari - will be in the hunt, but our job here this weekend is to try and close on both championships again.
"As long as we are quicker than Brawn, the rest doesn't really matter.
"Of course we want to get as many points as we can, but if we're getting beaten by Brawn, that's not good, we're never going to win anything.
"I've scored the most points in the last six races and I've got to keep doing what I'm doing. I can't control what Jenson's doing."
