Home favourite Mikko Hirvonen won the Rally of Finland for the first time on Sunday ahead of France's Sebastien Loeb.

The Ford Focus driver finished a comfortable 25 seconds ahead of five-time world champion Loeb to increase his lead on the Frenchman in the world championship series to three points.

Finland's Jari-Matti Latvala finished third in a Ford Focus at 49 seconds.

It is Hirvonen's tenth rally victory and third in a row this season after Greece and Poland.

Last year's winner, Loeb suffered a major setback when his Citroen suffered a damaged wheel when it hit a pothole on Saturday.
