Sportec's technicians in Switzerland have tweaked the standard Audi TT RS' engine management system to create an ECU (engine controls unit) remap for the 2.5-litre TFSI engine.

Off the factory floor, the Audi TT RS produces 249kW and 450Nm. Sportec's Stage One ECU upgrade raises power output to 298kW, while torque leaps to 543Nm.

Sportec claims the converted TT will record a 0-100kmh time of 4.2 seconds, shaving 0.4 seconds off the standard TT's record and putting it on par with big brother R8.

The speed limiter, which caps the TT at 250km/h, is also thrown out the window in this conversion.

There's no news on local prices yet, but the kit is priced at #1020 (about R13 000) fitted in the UK. The conversion is even covered by a guarantee for the balance of the manufacturer's warranty.
