It's going to be a busy year for Saab, with the 9-5 and 9-3X coming. But what about the new SUV?
According to the Swedes, although their 9-4X isn't on 2009's launch schedule, the crossover that shares its underpinning with the Cadillac SRX hasn't been scrapped. It's still undergoing tests, as revealed by the regular spy shots that surface.
And Saab brushed aside suggestions that the company may slowly fade into oblivion.
"The word 'oblivion' is certainly not in Saab's vocabulary anytime soon, especially since the Swedish government has proven be to be very supportive of the brand as one of its best known products around the world and a main source of jobs for the region," Saab spokesperson Willem Vester told Autoblog.com.
But it's also believed that unless the struggling GM can find a buyer for Saab, the future of 9-4X looks shaky.
