JSE Ltd said its indices had stopped updating as a result of technical issues, starting at 2.40pm on Tuesday.

However, the JSE team and its service providers said they had restored connectivity to the exchange participants who were affected during a short technical problem on its markets today. All participants are now able to trade.

The intermittent technical issues started at 2.40pm and lasted an hour and 20 minutes. Many market participants were not affected and were able to trade during this period, the JSE said.

"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to those market participants affected. Our first priority was to restore connectivity so that all participants could trade. We are now currently investigating the root cause and when this investigation is complete we will inform the market," said COO of the JSE, Leanne Parsons.
