Africa Cup of Nations 2019: 13 Teams Already Qualified

For the first time in the history of the CAF African Cup of Nations, 24 countries will be competing to win the most prestigious football title on the continent.

Before the last playoffs round next March, 13 national teams have already qualified for the competition that will take place next June in Cameroon.

Here is the list:

Egypt

Top winner till now with seven titles, Mohammed Salah’s Egypt will play their 23rdchampionship. They remain one of the favourites to win the title.

Morocco

Morocco

Thanks to its superstar Hakim Ziyech, Morocco has secured its ticket after beating Cameroon (2-0)  in Casablanca. Having a great manager, Hervey Renard, Morocco is expected to make noise in the competition.

Nigeria

Winner of three times (1980, 1994, 2013), Nigeria will play their 18th African Cup of Nations after the draw with South Africa (1-1) on November 18th .

 

Senegal

After a small victory against Sudan 0-1 last October, Sadio Mane’s Senegal got its fifteenth ticket the competition.

Mauritania

For the first time in history, Mauritania will be playing the 2019 African Cup of Nation in Cameroon. This historical qualification came after beating Botswana 2-1 Sunday, November 18th .

Madagascar

A historical qualification for Madagascar for the first time in history. On October 16th, the Malagasy selection qualified after a victory against Equatorial Guinea (1-0), on October 16th .

Tunisia

Winner in 2004 against Morocco, Carthage Eagles will play their 19th African competition after defeating Niger by two goals to one, November 16th .

Mali

Mali

Finalist in 1972 against Congo, this is 11th participation in the African Cup of Nations for Malian Eagles who attained their ticket after winning (0-1) in Gabon, November 17, 2018.

Uganda

Uganda

Finalist in 1978 against Ghana, Uganda will play its the 7th CAF African Cup of Nations. The qualification came after a victory against Cape Verde (1-0,) on November 17

Guinea

Guinea

Thanks to the draw between Rwanda and  Central African Republic (2-2), last Sunday, November 18th, Guinea qualified for the championship before the match against Ivory Coast (1-1).

Algeria

Thanks to their star Riyad Mahrez, Algerian Fennecs will play their 18th African Cup in Cameroon. Algerians have earned their ticket for the competition by winning (1-4) against Togo (1-4), this November 18th.

Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast has qualified for the 23rd time after a draw in Guinea (1-1) on 18 November. The Elephants are among the favourites to win their third African championship title.

Cameroon

Winner of the the  African Cup of Nations  five times, including the last edition,  Cameroon is automatically qualified as the organizing country.
