JOHANNESBURG – South Africans should brace themselves for another day without electricity. Eskom says there will be no lights from 9am on Tuesday morning until 10pm tonight.

The utility says that unless more power units become available there will be power cuts for most of the day.

The utility says that technicians are working hard to restore a number of generating units that are still out of service due to a breakdown.

Eskom’s Khulu Phasiwe: “We’re also in the process of replenishing our diesel and water resources so that we can improve the situation. The big challenge is in relation to the backlog of maintenance that needs to happen and that will take a little time.”
