Former Bafana Skipper Kagisho Dikgacoi Suspended By Royal Eagles

National First Division outfit, Royal Eagles, have suspended former Bafana Bafana international, Kagisho Dikgacoi, from his position as caretaker coach.

The club’s general manager, James Dlamini, confirmed to IOL on Wednesday that Dikgacio has been suspended. Dikgacoi joined Eagles at the starts of the season as an assistant coach.

He took over the reigns as a caretaker coach few weeks back after the incumbent head coach, Roger Sikhakhane, was given a break because of his health problems. Dikgacoi ammased two victories against University of Pretoria and Uthongathi and suffered one defeat in his last game against Real Kings.

“Yes it is true that we’ve suspended Dikgacoi. He is still our member but has been released out of the camp. We are looking at his situation and the club will make the decision in due course. Sazi Ngubane has take over the absence of Dikgacoi,” Dlamini explained.

Dikgacoi is set to complete his Uefa B Licence in Dublin next year. He retired from football at the start of the season. He made his name during his stint with Fulham, Crystal Palace and Cardiff City in England. Dikgacoi also represented Bafana Bafana with distinction playing in the Fifa World Cup in 2010 and two Africa Cup of Nations.

“Sazi has been working together with Dikgacoi as you know that our coach, Roger Sikhakhane, is still recovering at home. It will be easy for him. He has been working with these boys for the past weeks,” Dlamini said.

Eagles will face TS Galaxy in at league match at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday at 3.30pm. After seven rounds of matches, Galaxy currently led the standings on the 16-team table while Eeagles are 12th.
