Port Elizabeth – The defence lawyer representing a Nigerian pastor and his two alleged accomplices failed in the bid to have 63 charges against the accused dropped.

The lawyer brought an application in the Port Elizabeth High Court on Monday.

The charges include trafficking young women for the sex trade, rape, sexual assault, racketeering and conspiracy in aiding another person to commit sexual assault.

The two women are accused of recruiting girls from all over the country for purposes of sexual exploitation.

Judge Mandela Makaula did not give out reasons why the charges can not be squashed but said he would provide reasons in his final judgment.
