Established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries across the world, the World Travel Awards are recognised as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.

Cape Town is currently the holder of the “World’s Leading Festival & Event Destination”.  At the recent Africa & Indian Ocean World Travel Awards in June this year Cape Town was again voted “Africa’s Leading Festival and Event Destination” for the second consecutive time.  Table Mountain won the title of “Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction and Cape Town International Airport won “Africa’s Leading Airport”.

‘We are proud to be in the running for such a sought after accolade and we are putting our trust in everyone that calls South Africa home to cast a vote in our favour. A win will surely enhance our city as a destination of choice for visitors. We have so much to offer that it would be inconceivable that we are not aligned in our quest to bring home the title for our city,’ said Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) Managing Director, Wahida Parker

October also marks the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company’s 90th year of operations, and a special present has been announced to commemorate this milestone.

“As part of our 90th birthday celebrations, we are offering you a special never to be repeated R90 return cable car ticket. This offer will be available for the month of October to anyone with a valid South African ID or birth certificate,” explains Parker.

“In addition to the special ticket, we are also launching a special competition in conjunction with Turkish Airlines, which offers South Africans a chance to win a trip for two to Istanbul. To enter the draw, you simply need to make a purchase worth R200 or more from our restaurant or our shop and your name will be added to the lucky draw.”

TMACC commemorated 90 years of operation on Friday 4 October.

“TMACC has been providing visitors with a world-class experience since October 4, 1929. Over the years we have received numerous accolades, such as being voted one of the official new 7 Wonders of Nature. We are also currently in the running for the title of “World Leading Tourist Attraction”, at the annual World Travel Awards,” says Parker.

The 90th Anniversary ticket offer is available for online bookings as well as at the TMACC ticket office, from 1 to 31 October 2019.

Tickets are R90 per adult and R90 per child, when you produce your valid South African ID or your child’s birth certificate to ticket office tellers or enter the SA ID number in the relevant field online. Children under the age of four do not need tickets, and this offer cannot be used in conjunction with other specials.
